Write note nosweat6060 posted a note for Brass Cap Cache - A Memorial Puzzle

Monday, July 24, 2017Alberta, Canada

BCP281 Calgary - Emily Follensbee School [FOUND]
The weather gods have been kind this week and I was able to plan and then carry out a package of 8 searches for brass caps within the city of Calgary. Thanks ofth & vdD for this enjoyable beginning to the day. Photos will be added soon.

This was the kind of 'special' cap search that adds a little spice to the activity. The search, at least for me, involved 3 distinct phases, each with their own level of difficulty.

The first phase was to figure out where to park. This was non-trivial, with lots of possibilities, but no obvious first choice.

The second phase was to figure out a route from the parking to the cap area. Although this obviously depends on the first choice, once again it was not clear how to get to the cap.

Once there, phase 3 kicked in, where is it amongst the junipers and vegetation? I found the suggestion of a previous log to line up the telephone poles to be helpful.
All in all this was pure fun! A real challenge. This was "find" #3.

infoA Mystery Cache is the “catch-all” of cache types, this form of cache can involve complicated puzzles you will first need to solve to determine the coordinates. The only commonality of this cache type is that the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. Due to the increasing creativity of geocaching this becomes the staging ground for new and unique challenges.
