#3032 - Found Sunday, 21 February 2016 at 01:35 PM

This was my 4th of 9 finds with 0 DNFs for this cache run.

This was a rare cache for me where the puzzle was the easier part of the find. I actually solved it in under 10 minutes but it wasn't until today that I was able to get out to this area to make the attemp. The approach was VERY muddy which made the ascent hard and the descent trecherous. Once at GZ I had a feeling where I should look but my GPS was very bouncy and was aiming me as much as 40 feet on either side of the trail. I sat for a bit, telling myself that maybe a minute or two would help stabiize the signal but the reality was that I needed to catch my breath. I'm definitely out of shape and have to get out more. If the weather remains this unseasonalbly warm that won't be an issue. Anyway, I finally decided to put the damn GPS aside and let my geosenses guide me. I searched for several minutes and came up empty and again, sat to ponder where it could be. The previous season's deposit of leaves was no help (OK, it was quite the hindrance) and I was about to PAF asking for them to narrow down the area for me when I spotted something that I'd missed before. Sure enough, it was the cache. Great container, puzzle, and area all combine to earn this one a favorite point.

infoA Mystery Cache is the “catch-all” of cache types, this form of cache can involve complicated puzzles you will first need to solve to determine the coordinates. The only commonality of this cache type is that the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. Due to the increasing creativity of geocaching this becomes the staging ground for new and unique challenges.
