Another Team Clova event to add to the best weekend’s away list.
As soon as I heard about this event I knew this was a must for us. With Mr G having worked the local Monday, it meant we were able to get here just before lunch and get set up whilst it was still dry.
There were so many great moments over this event…here’s a brief [aye right!!] view!!
Laughs...oh where to begin?
FFB grilling a 6 year old to rat on the innocent ...who in their right mind would believe a sleeping bairn [who never saw a thing..even if he claims he has xray vision??]
Laying odds on whether FFB's tent would still actually be on the pitch in the morning after all the rain.
The campsite owner joining in the fun and asking why there was a tent in the caravan's bit [and it had only taken Bob, H and Kirsty over an hour to get a 4 Barbie doll tent put up...sorry there was no way 4 men were going to get in there!!] Bob's face was a picture when he thought he was going to have to take down a soggy tent to move it across the way.
Thinking a wild beast had got in FFB's tent and was eating him in his sleep...ahh sleep + Bob equals snores!
Saturday's weather thankfully was a lot drier, and having cached our way up the Glen it was great to catch up with everyone later. Great team work meant the barbie was a great success. Calvin helped by handing out A marshmallow or A haribo to those who wanted ONE [yep ONE was what they got!!]
Noticed the cacher that hogged one of the citronella candles….hmmm didn’t want midgey bites scarring his bonny face Calvin’s knee had quite a few on…trending jeans with a rip in the knees..means a midgey free for all!
Then with the day’s caching and blethering catching up on us all it was time to call it a day..so we retired pretty late. Perfect timing actually as it had started to drizzle.
Safely tucked up in bed we were soon fast asleep….till about 1am. …then there was a slight disturbance…but managed to block it out till 3am…then I was aware of some voices caterwauling ‘I am drunk and I can’t sing…..!’ hollering from a vehicle not very far from where we were. And so it continued along with some music [couldn’t tell what that was…the appalling singing wasn’t just drowning out that ….but also the snoring coming from the canvas to the other side of us…don’t tell me to count my blessings!] Finally after an excruciating ¾’s of an hour the Pooter and Pom show [not sure I’d book them to play any where soon!!] drew to close and peace settled once more on sleepy Edzell.
It was great to see so many well kent faces..and great to meet some new ones too. Look forward to seeing most of you again next month.. [oh and am I glad that I’m not tenting down near the lodge… ]
