Found it lumacafi found Mission 4: Southern Bowl

Tuesday, October 30, 2007São Paulo, Brazil

Like many other i've been watching this cache for some time now.
After booking a flight to Brazil I started doing some homework on the few caches there and this one popped and stare at me right in the eye.

It would be a lot easier for me since i speak portuguese and i would have a car at my disposal, why not?

A few emails and some phone calls later and i had booked Luis for the Halloween morning. I arrived the day before at the Intervales area and I tried to take a shot at it.

Arriving from south there is no gate at the park entrance, and after driving a bit i was 190m (600ft) away from the cache.

Walking inside a deep jungle in jeans and a sweat shirt isn't the recommended way to do it. And after some exploratory approaches I had to back off. Driving some more I finally found the park administration.

I explained i was a day early and would be back the next day, Luis the guide which maintains the cache was there and immediately suited up to go with me again.

And off we went, I had been on the right trail, but missed a turn. It seemed almost simple with Luis bushwhacking in front of me.
After 20 minutes or so we arrived at the watch tower that i had seen previously.
Then Luis said that we were at 5 meters from the cache and let me look for it.
My fellow portuguese geocachers know that i'm not one of the most patient folks when it's time to look for a cache, but trust me, i looked for it, and found it. The large size helped a bit, and there it was in my hands an APE cache.

I took some coins that were stuck in that cache for a long time now and will release them in Europe.

Left some coins and a geocoin.

For all of you that are watching this cache.. Just go.
Brazil is a lot safer now, specially in Sao Paulo. The roads are just fine until the last few kms entering the park.
Call in advance to book Luis, because he is the only one that knows about the cache and the path leading to it.

E agora eu poderia repetir tudo o que disse acima em português, mas não o irei fazer...

Apenas que esta cache vale mesmo os 8 mil kms, o dinheiro e tempo. Não há nada que se compare na Europa. Venham.. já.

The South entranceI drove right past this and entered the park...

infoA Project APE cache is a geocache hidden as part of a Planet of the Apes FOX Promotion in 2001. When each cache was placed they contained a different prop from the movie. There are still some active today.
