BCP517 - Carbon
We decided to do a little road trip to pick up a few caches today and the opportunity for a stop in Carbon was part of the plan. We parked at the south end of the townsite and enjoyed two crossings of the local stream before arriving at the cap site near the NW end of the local campground. The cap site was well marked with a piece of lath and blue flagging, but the cap itself was covered with hard packed ice. We took a stroll over to a nearby fire pit and borrowed a sizeable log to help chip out the ice on top of the cap. After a few minutes of work, we uncovered the familiar shape of an Alberta Survey cap. It was a most pleasant morning for the short hike, as we snapped the money shot, took a few pictures of the surrounding area, and headed NE to further adventure along the backroads. Thanks OFTH for this nicely located cap - now if we had a few more mountain caps and a little warm weather things would be terrific!
