Found it Doppelbock found Fear Factor: Up the Rat Hole

Sunday, February 22, 2015California

I knew that I need to get an amazing cache for my #500 milestone and this one immediately came to mind. I posted on FB looking for someone to come find it with me since I figured climbing that high up might not be so good to do alone. NavalAv8or was the only one who answered the call and I am very glad that he did so as we had a great caching adventure. We had a little concern over the recent DNF but I figured even if I didn't get the smiley I would get the fun of the adventure and could return another time to make the find.

We found the old WP and followed the trail to the stream then crossed as indicated in the listing. We ended up circling around a few times until we got to where we could enter the tunnel from the side by using the top of the concrete wall for handholds and barely got our feet wet. Being six feet tall made the tunnel a bit more challenging for me although the first let to the ladder wasn't too bad.

NavalAv8tor went up the ladder at first and was able to find WP1 after a bit of a search. He called out the coordinates for the final from the top of the ladder so that we could both get them entered. I had to back away as he descended since there was quite a bit of debris falling. I then took my turn to climb since it didn't feel right to not do it. I had a bit of a struggle since I am recovering from micro-tears in my bicep so I had to pause a few times.

We the proceeded to head for the final and I think we ended up reading too much in to the hint and put too much stock in some really old logs. We walked too far, then turned around and started checking near but not at GZ (based on old logs). In the end we found the container right on the numbers, signing the log at 10:48.

Thanks to the DAK Girls for a great adventure, this one definitely filled in an empty box in my D/T grid. I look forward to doing more of your caches as they are so highly rated. I definitely made a great choice for #500. Definitely worth a favorite point. I am attaching a picture of me exiting the tunnel after making the find.

infoA multi-cache ("multiple") involves two or more locations, the final location being a physical container. There are many variations, but most multi-caches have a hint to find the second cache, and the second cache has hints to the third, and so on. An offset cache (where you go to a location and get hints to the actual cache) is considered a multi-cache.
