It looks like your log contains HTML or UBB formatting. We now use Markdown formatting because it works on both web and mobile. Would you like to convert your log?

Success! To keep these changes, hit “Submit Log Entry” at the bottom of the page.

Hmm. Some of your log formatting is not supported. You might want to remove it and use Markdown formatting.

When Hearty Soles, Lacknothing and I were planning a trip to Devil's Lake, we noticed this IAT cache right along our route. Lacknothing had quizzed us in the car earlier, asking us which 2 rivers were connected by this canal. Having not done any research yet, I could only come up with one. Now I've seen the canal, read the signs, visited Wikipedia and a couple other websites on this subject. Very interesting. There are some old photos of the canal at www.wisconsinhistory.org/
On top of that, we're all attempting to complete the IAT - Half Trail Challenge and this cache gives us Columbia Co. So there were lots of smiles at GZ.
Lacknothing found it in the blink of an eye.
TFTC!

Portage Canal IAT in Columbia Co

infoThis is the original cache type consisting, at a bare minimum, a container and a log book. Normally you'll find a tupperware container, ammo box, or bucket filled with goodies, or smaller container ("micro cache") too small to contain items except for a log book. The coordinates listed on the traditional cache page is the exact location for the cache.
