Didn't find it The Wildleys couldn't find CC4 Mynydd Machen (RVR4)

Monday, April 18, 2005South Wales, United Kingdom

We walked up from the road, just over 1 km from the cache location. When we reached the trig point, we met a very friendly couple and their dog, Jess. They told us they live in one of the villages near the base of the mountain.

We had spectacular views in every direction, and we chatted about hiking up Pen y Fan and Snowdon. After a while, the couple headed down to their car, and we headed in the direction of the cache.

We searched for a very long time, getting gorse prickles embedded in just about every piece of flesh and clothing imaginable. But we couldn't find the cache. Hopefully, we just didn't look in the right place (or maybe we looked in the right place but just couldn't see the cache!); but we have a bad feeling about this one. Was the cache hidden in a black, static-proof bag, by any chance? If so, then the news may be bad: we found such a bag in the suspected location -- but it was empty.

We had a good walk nonetheless, and we enjoyed meeting the couple and their dog at the trig point.

infoThis is the original cache type consisting, at a bare minimum, a container and a log book. Normally you'll find a tupperware container, ammo box, or bucket filled with goodies, or smaller container ("micro cache") too small to contain items except for a log book. The coordinates listed on the traditional cache page is the exact location for the cache.
