Didn't find it Divine couldn't find Eremitage

Monday, 05 July 2004Salzburg, Austria

It's nice to have a thorough English description on the cache page, but I would've appreciated the information that good understanding of German is vital for finding this cace. To my misfortune my wife - who is fluent with German language - went to a nearby swimming beach while I took the task of finding this cache. It was too late to go get her with me when I realized I would have severe difficulties on the way.

The first task was easy enough, but it took me quite a while to realize how to get to the second stage. When I finally found my way to the correct path, I had to ask for linguistical help from three different groups of people (all Austrian) during the journey. Not that it mattered though, it was good practise for me and it was... uhm, interesting to try explaining geocaching to geomuggles in German language...

When I was already at the 4th stage, I realized what the 2nd and 3rd stages must have meant (the helpful and friendly muggles weren't much of a help, to be honest). I figured what the 2nd stage must've meant, and walked back to the 3rd, where I think I found the right answer. The rest was quite easy - I think.

At the final spot I searched quite a while and when it started to rain (like all the previous trouble wasn't enough!) I sat down and checked my calculations. I found some mistakes, which lead me to some 60 meters away. It brought me to a place with quite bad satellite receiving, but there was bunch of good hiding places. However, I didn't find anything there. After checking and rechecking my calculations again I found no other mistakes, and searched yet for a while, but I guess all the language troubles, running back and forth the pilgrimage path (it all took quite a while!) and the rain and my wife waiting nervously at a nearby café I finally had to give up and leave.

Maybe I still made some mistake

Edit: Hehe, now I checked the spoiler pic and the view picture and I know I have went very close to the hiding place. I should have printed the spoiler picture with me, but unfortunately I never did it. Well, the pilgrimage and the stories along the way were great and interesting, so I definitely have no hard feelings against this cache. Maybe I'll find this the next time I come to Austria!

infoA multi-cache ("multiple") involves two or more locations, the final location being a physical container. There are many variations, but most multi-caches have a hint to find the second cache, and the second cache has hints to the third, and so on. An offset cache (where you go to a location and get hints to the actual cache) is considered a multi-cache.
