Didn't find it wavector couldn't find Brass Cap Cache- Smith-Dorrien Rd (Locked)

There were several small holes in the ground near the survey marker but no cap was to be found. The description calls for an ASC cap 35 cm BGL but all the new work around the site means current GL is not reliable. The power line referred to in the clue looks like it was shifted when several poles needed to be replaced right here. The approach was rebuilt at the same time the irrigation canal was rebuilt. I will try and talk to one of the locals on my next visit to look for this cap but all referents are changed. No power line, no GL, no approach, no canal shoulder.

I think I may have the original GL excavated, see the photos. You can clearly see the grass and the old sod on the original soil horizon, this horizon was found about 15" below the current GL so the cap is still another foot down, can someone lend me a metal detector. I also think the power line has been moved south, see the photos. The two power poles on either side of the enlarged canal are new and they are not in the original line delineated by all the other poles, they have been replaced.
I have an excavation now, no Brass Cap here yet. I think I am close but that is a failing common to all my DNF's.

infoA virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit.

Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

Virtuals are now considered waymarks on Waymarking.com.
