Today it is not only Easter... it is also my wife’s birthday! 🎉
And as a bonus we got some super weather as well. 😎
So when I asked my wife what she wanted to do for her birthday, she replied “Let us go out, do some hiking and have a bit of fika along the way.”
That sounded great and around noon we left the house.
Our first choice was to go to Hammarö’s sydspits... but arriving at the parking, it quickly became clear we weren’t the only ones there. Hardly any place left to park the car. ☹️
Time for plan B!
The area around Brattfors is one of our favourite places as it has some really nice hiking paths and is certainly less crowded. The fact that I still have some caches to find there is just an insignificant detail to this story. 😂
A little over half an hour later we arrived to the area and were immediately faced with what probably was going to be the “biggest” obstacle of the day.
The last part of the road, leading to the parking spot, was extremely muddy at certain places. There was even some snow and ice! Quite happy our car has AWD and a good ground clearance.
The good news... the parking was completely empty!
Not a person in sight. Nice!
Plenty of hikes starting here, but we chose the stretch with the Ormtjärn caches because it passes by a small beach, ideal for a fika.
The hike was great! Perfect weather, not a person (or a mosquito) in sight, great scenic views and while not exactly completely flat it wasn’t too challenging for this years first real hike.
All caches were “easy” finds and in perfect condition.
Totally enjoyed it!
Once back at the car, we saw some other cars had parked at the starting point.
Seems like we weren’t the only ones who dared to challenge the muddy road.
So no longer alone and time to head home.
Time for a shower and an ice cold beer.
