For early October, the weather was simply excellent and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get out and enjoy some wide open spaces this weekend. I know Sleepy Hollow has been up this hill a few times before, but after some arm twisting I was able to convince him that it really was worthy of another visit. There were a couple of new caches over on the West summit after all, and we could simply follow the route taken earlier this summer by Brendan714, dropping down from the summit here, navigating through the "tricky traverse" and then working our way up the ridge to the Baldy Ridge summit cairn and BVPete's summit cache. After that endeavor, we would descend from the ridge and make the ascent up the southwest side peak. Well, that all sounds pretty straightforward and for the most part it really was. There were however, a few parts of this route that required extra care and attention as the room for error was minimal. For my son and I, it was our first trip up Baldy Mountain and we really enjoyed the challenge, while Sleepy Hollow got the opportunity to explore a new route and who knows, maybe even hide another cache somewhere.

TFTCap in another outstanding location ofth!

infoA virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit.

Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

Virtuals are now considered waymarks on Waymarking.com.
