We were all set to get this cache. Got seven kids up early, fed them all, found 37 snacks, dug up winter clothes, spent time in the basement to find boots, printed all the relevant information, and were ready to go around 11:45am. Oh, that was after not remembering where the heck I put my GPS yesterday, but flyingfisher came to the rescue and found it.
We first wanted to get FTF on one of the new Windsor, VT caches, and be Second To Find on the other one. So by the time we had done both of those, and had made a junk food stop to feed the kiddos yet again, it was late in the afternoon.
No problem. We knew that there wouldn't have been any geocachers out there today, they all have to work on Tuesdays, right? Can't just run to any old park to pick up this cool cache. No way.
Mosaica was with us, she was looking forward to watching us find this one, she expected us to have a hard time finding it. We sure did. She was sitting there, in her chair, and gloating, while we wandered around the location where our GPS pointed to. Looking under everything, in all the bushes, in all the holes in the walls, behind every rock, under every pebble.
Mosaica was having a great time and kept saying things like 'During the last five minutes, two people were within millimeters of it with their hand!' We would all stare at her and stare at each other and continue searching. And searching.
She gave some extra clues to the kids, and we came closer and closer to the find, but never totally found it. So she came over to check whether the cache actually was still there.
Now that explained a lot! Some one else must have sneaked in today and grabbed it! Geez!
At home, I immediately logged on and had to see who did this to us, and found that the cache now is in the hands of Mountain_Wanderer! He is good at getting at caches before us. Oh well, maybe next time we'll beat him :-)
Karen, Tara, Jane, Kate, Erik, and baby Sylvia, having fun not finding this one with dragonmage, mystery user, mosaica, and flyingfisher.
