BCP433 - Green Mountain
We (j2d2, BVPete, and I) coordinated a fairly early meet up and ended up leaving the trailhead at Indian Oils just after 8:30 am. It was the perfect day with bright sunshine and cooler temperatures to make the hike a pleasure.
Early into the hike we noticed the unmistakeable marks of both grizzly and black bear tracks. They were abundant, fresh, and clear in the damp trail from the previous day's rain. Fortunately we only saw the tracks and not the actual bears.
We ended up meeting up with this morning's real early risers the Takin It Easy crew just as they were headed back down the hill to their bikes. We met at a spot on the ridge with some amazing views and very cool rock formations - great to see you again!
Thankfully the TIE-Team had done a fabulous job of removing the rocks and cleaning off the cap for our arrival - nice job TIE! We only needed to take the necessary pictures and enjoy the amazing scenic green views after which Green Mountain has been named.
Our track log showed a round trip distance of just over 15 kilometres with an elevation gain of 300 metres - though it seemed like more. Just a fabulous trip with terrific company, the good fortune of running into the TIE's, and the cooperation of the weather (as the rain fell more heavily to the north) - TFTH and setting up this cap OFTH!
