What unspeakably good timing! My wife and I decided on a whim to make a weekend trip to Canmore and Banff, from Vegreville. While planning today’s caching last night, I noticed a new virtual cache I hadn’t seen before. We made morning plans to head out and do the hike. Our prairie legs were challenged by the stairs, but we pressed on and were rewarded with a spectacular view of the Bow Valley. And to my delight, the area at the posted coordinates was undisturbed, so I knew no one had been there since it was published. Didn’t ever think I’d be FTF on a virtual cache! All in all a wonderful experience and a definite fave (even if I don’t count the FTF high). Thanks for the fun, BVPete!

infoA virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit.

Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

Virtuals are now considered waymarks on Waymarking.com.
