Found it Divine found Alasjärvi

Saturday, 26 February 2005Finland

The starting spot seems to be what is commonly called 'a cruising spot'. I'd say it's 'safer' for women to go alone there than it is for men. When I was searching for the maps, a middle-aged guy was studying the building too, and it crossed my mind that he might be another geocacher. However he didn't react on seeing my GPSr, so I just nodded a 'hi' to him and moved on trying to search somewhere he couldn't see me.

I also checked the nearby other building, although the zero point didn't really seem to be there. When I came out, the guy was there again, throwing some comment about the graffiti on the building walls. I said that perhaps someone should come here to document this folklore, and we both laughed. I still had no idea, just wished that he would go away so I could find the maps. Then he pointed a hole on the separating wall inside the building, and mumbled an indistinct but (if I heard right, a) very vulgar sounding statement, which wasn't clearly an invitation, but could be interpreted as one.

Suddenly it all was clear to me. I realized he was probably talking about 'a glory hole'. I politely said that 'oh, now I understand, but no thanks', and gave a charming smile, and walked away from him. A minute later I saw him walking away from the buildings.

Glad I didn't say 'I guess we're both looking for the same thing', when I first saw him and thought if he was a geocacher.

The cache: I walked all the points at once, and finally after correcting the calculation error I made by having not read carefully the instructions, I found myself in the area that looked suitable for the final container. After a half an hour search, I became a bit desperate and called Harri from Harjus to ensure I was approximately at right location. He confirmed that and I didn't want further hints, so I continued searching. At least my calculations seemed right. I was about ready to go home, because I was very hungry, but then I finally found it, more than 20 meters from my zero point. I might have missed some of the 10 points making the final coords a bit off.

Left TB Iceman in the final container and TB Kummit at the starting location (where I took TB Green Fork).

infoA multi-cache ("multiple") involves two or more locations, the final location being a physical container. There are many variations, but most multi-caches have a hint to find the second cache, and the second cache has hints to the third, and so on. An offset cache (where you go to a location and get hints to the actual cache) is considered a multi-cache.
