BCP593 Idlewilde Mountain

Joci and I got our traditional early start this morning and arrived at sunrise by the trailhead identified by BVPete in his earlier log for this cap. We decided not to park in the ditch and opted to park safely off the road about 300 metres south of the trailhead on the west side of the road.

We made quick work of the first short section up the quad trail to the west and arrived ready to take on the clear cut crossing that leads to the cap. We opted to travel through the selectively cut forest along the ridge and picked up the quad trail on the south side that led directly to the cap site. We were both surprised to find a cache next to the cap site - I've seen this technique used before somewhere - now where was it?

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the amazing rock formations along the ridge, view of the mountains to the west, and were even tempted momentarily to visit a nearby peak. Our track log showed a round trip distance of 13.5 km with 400 - 500 metres of elevation gain. Now on to VP's gems along the South Ram River!

Thanks OFTH for a fine cap location and Joci for the terrific company on the trail!

infoA virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit.

Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

Virtuals are now considered waymarks on Waymarking.com.
