BCP454 - 9999 Trail

Van der Decken and I decided that we would make our attempt at finding this cap on our return from Allsmoke Mountain. We parked on a cutline off of the Grotto Creek Trail when we were perpendicular to the cap location about 850 meters distant. Hunters had been parked here earlier in the day but were now gone, giving us easy access to a very muddy cutline that got us within 300 meters of the cap, then we took a 90° left turn and headed directly to the cap on top of what would have been a small hill this morning but what now seemed to be a large hill. I had been looking forward to seeing vdD in his cap finder’s mode as I thought this cap might be difficult to find, however all the MPs were in place. It also helped that Sleepy Hollow had already been here and the cap was clean and ready to be photographed.

Thanks for posting this cap and contributing to our terrific day in the mountains ofth. The numbers are covered by the FTF performing a creek crossing while on a cap expedition earlier in the year. He does get around!

infoA virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit.

Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

Virtuals are now considered waymarks on Waymarking.com.
