This cap was part of the fire lookout brass cap purge back in 2008 and has since been archived. As with a few other lookout brass caps, I paid it a visit after hiking up to the lookout and am logging it here as a note only to mark the visit and report its fine condition.

I decided I wanted to visit this ridge back in 2008 while standing up on Mt Burke for the first time, but for some reason I always seemed to be headed to another nearby objective whenever I was in the area (including another Mt Burke hike in 2011). Today, Mrs. Tie, Tyler and I decided to finally brave the heat and head up the ridge. It was a hot trek up and we elected the longer less steep route which was a great idea. There was a strong smell of smoke in the area still but the haze was not as bad as I expected and the views still impressive. The lookout seemed to be closed down with all the windows shuttered which I though was odd. I approached GZ from the open side in the fence by the landing pad and called out with no response to see if it was OK to grab a quick photo. I walked in the 10m to GZ and quickly snapped the cap photo and was amused by the grasshopper TV next to it. Too funny. I called out again and decided no one was home before retreating back to the picnic table area for visitors. Another fine cap location. Glad to have finally made the visit.

infoA Mystery Cache is the “catch-all” of cache types, this form of cache can involve complicated puzzles you will first need to solve to determine the coordinates. The only commonality of this cache type is that the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. Due to the increasing creativity of geocaching this becomes the staging ground for new and unique challenges.
