I was out today with my son Bobcat on a long distance trip to East Sussex picking up some long-solved puzzles. It was about 6pm and we were on our way home. We were absolutely exhausted by now as we'd walked about 10km up and down hills, but we decided to pick up this challenge as we went past.
I've only recently qualified for this challenge. The Fars were the easy bit (I had nine of them), but the Near part was the one I was having trouble with as there weren't ten caches within a mile of my house. For years my nearest icon had been a puzzle that I've never managed to solve, so I couldn't even qualify using the alternative "ten nearest caches" method. Then earlier this year Mashworth published a new puzzle series most of which fell within my one mile radius. So I now just scrape through the challenge with exactly 10 Nears.
We needed a bit of teamwork to find this one. I'd been searching off in other places for a minute or two but hadn't found anything. So I returned to where Bobcat was. He said he'd found a brick but no cache. So I searched a feet around it and spotted it in the grass.
I'm attaching a screenshot of my stats showing that I qualify - although they are publicly viewable I usually have my distance units set as metric.
