Luck of the Irish

 

My SMITH and RYAN ancestors came to Maryland in the mid-1700's. Hopefully this coin will make it's way to Ireland and perhaps roam the country searching for an ancestor. My g-g-g-grandfather, Robert Smith was born in Maryland on 15 October 1786, his parents having immigrated some years previously. Robert married Sarah Ryan, daughter of a neighboring Irish immigrant, on 16 November 1816. I submitted my DNA to "Family Tree DNA" and my Y chromosome has been analyzed and is posted on their website, along with my family tree. From the state of Maryland the family moved through Harrison County, Ohio, eventually settling in Monroe Township, Adams County, Indiana.
