While living Lydia Mikel only traveled in a few western states. Please take this travel bug, dedicated to her memory, to as many places in the United States as she would have enjoyed traveling to.
Lydia Lottie Mike, my great grandmother, l was born in North eastern Missouri just after the Civil War. At that time a large number of her relatives lived in the area. She traveled to Colorado and got better acquainted with a distant cousin, Walter Sherman Mikel. They married. Colorado at the turn of the century was already a state, but had many less settled areas. They raised their children in south western Colorado, much of the time living near Mancos, Colorado. During their time in Mancos is when their daughter met my grandfather.
