Cystická fibróza (CF) neboli mukoviscidóza je lidské geneticky podmíněné onemocnění, které postihuje převážně dýchací a trávicí soustavu. Jde o autozomální recesivní vrozené onemocnění způsobené mutací genuprodukujícího protein CFTR (anglicky Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator).

Léčba se v současnosti soustřeďuje zejména na léčbu dýchacího ústrojí – inhalace, fyzioterapie, antibiotika. Nemocní užívají trávicí enzymy v kapslích, tedy na odstraňování důsledků onemocnění. Jeho příčina je léčitelná, ale zatím nevyléčitelná.

V Česku se každoročně s touto nemocí narodí 1 dítě z přibližně 2500 až 3000 narozených dětí, což je celkově okolo 40 až 50 dětí v populaci. Diagnostikovaná nemoc bývá ale jen zhruba u poloviny z nich. Polovina nemocných se dnes v České republice dožívá alespoň 32 let. Předpokládá se, že každý 25. člověk v populaci je přenašečem postiženého genu, ale jelikož má jednu kopii poškozenou a druhou v pořádku, onemocnění se u něho neprojevuje.

Cystic fibrosis (CF), or mucoviscidosis, is a human genetic condition that primarily affects the respiratory and digestive system. It is an autosomal recessive congenital disease caused by the mutation of the CTS (CTR) gene (CTR).

Currently, treatment is mainly focused on the treatment of the respiratory tract - inhalation, physiotherapy, antibiotics. The patients use digestive enzymes in the capsules, ie to eliminate the consequences of the disease. Its cause is curable but still incurable.

In the Czech Republic, one child is born each year from approximately 2,500 to 3,000 births, with a total of about 40 to 50 children in the population. Diagnosed illness is only about half of them. Half of the patients currently live in the Czech Republic for at least 32 years. It is assumed that every 25th person in the population is a carrier of the affected gene, but since one copy is damaged and the other one is okay, the disease does not appear to him.
