Current Goal

We want our travel bug to visit the Eastern Hemisphere and have its picture taken with people who have unique beards and moustaches. We are a group of 7th and 8th graders from Crestview Heights School in Waldport, OR. Our social studies class is studying the cultures of the Eastern Hemisphere. Our principal is visiting our classroom once a month to track our travel bug with us. Please upload images of people and places to our gallery.

I'm still a bit groggy from flying over the Pacific, but I managed to strike this pose on a gourd with two 50 yen coins. Jetlag is hard, even for a mustache. Greetings from Tokyo, Japan!

Our last day in Portland. I met Mr. Galen at breakfast - he's a 4th grade teacher from Newport Intermediate School and was in dire need of a mustache 😉. After breakfast I prepared for a trip to the Eastern Hemisphere by reading an article about Korea.

Tonight I went with Furious Fungi to a rock and mineral raffle. Here are some cool fossils and a rock core that I had my picture taken with. Rock cores are used by geologists to examine what a rock or sediment is composed of. FF didn't win these things at the raffle, but did win a pretty cool green calcite mineral, a piece of gypsum selenite, and some pegmatite (an igneous rock).

While Furious Fungi was at a session at the conference, I took myself downtown. While there I found this Louis Vitton guy standing upside down. He has a pencil-thin mustache. Then, the most incredible, cool shopping center in the world - it has fossils all over the walls and floors! Here I am just below a tiny ammonite fossil, I think. Too bad I have no eyes and can't actually see them. Sigh.
