Current Goal

To travel from cache to cache and country to country around the world, helping people quit bad habits as I go. If there's anything you'd like to quit, mention it when you log me; then leave me somewhere else, and I'll try to take those cravings and temptations away with me! About This Item

This is one cold turkey!

I bought this "Cold Turkey" rubber toy in a tiny box-set (ISBN 9780762431441 if you want to look it up) at a local bookstore. It came with a scroll (rolled up to look like a cigarette) containing brief instructions on how to resolve to quit any particularly troublesome habits or addictions you may have, along with suggestions to "squeeze the living daylights" out of the turkey whenever cravings or temptations get out of hand! And: "Quitting something cold turkey is probably one of the most difficult things to do, next to putting up with your in-laws around the holidays. To get your inspirations together, make a list of all your reasons for quitting, whether it's because you're flat broke and have no other choice, you constantly wake up on someone else's lawn and have no idea how you got there, or because it's the new year and you have to pretend to have a resolution, at least for a week or so anyways. Next, throw away your excuses and get ready to quit once and for all - cold-turkey style!" While addictions can be very serious things indeed, and may require a lot more help than one shivering blue rubber turkey, I thought it might be fun to send this little guy around to help encourage people to try to quit any particular habits or behaviors that have been nagging at them lately. In my case, it'd be my tendency to procrastinate - even more apparent as I got this turkey with intent to release it near Thanksgiving, and not only have I missed that but I've also missed New Year's! But I'm going to quit procrastinating (about this, anyway) Right This Minute!
