Current GOAL

This trackable is unusual for its longevity. In the five-year period, 2010-14, the owner released a total of 1721 travel bugs in the United States (95%) and Europe (5%). This travel bug is one of the 2% of the total that circulated for at least 5 years and had been moved at least 25 times.  That is a rate of five drops per year for five years.  As of 2-Dec-19, this particular travel bug had survived for 8.5 years and had been moved by 48 cachers. How far can it get?  Keep it moving!

Please drop it in rural OR Premium Member Only caches.  Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event where there is no security.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish.  No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

Travel bug photos are appreciated and will be re-posted here.

About This Item

1stCavalryDiv

Replica Patch (large) Army 1st Cavalry.  The 1st Cavalry Division is one of the most famous and most decorated combat divisions of the United States Army.  Presently, it is a rapidly deployable heavy armored division of the United States Army with base of operations in Fort Hood, Texas.

The Division insignia a yellow triangular Norman shield with rounded corners and a black diagonal stripe extending over the shield from upper left to lower right.  In the upper right is a black horse head cut diagonally at the neck.  The shield has a green border.  Yellow is the traditional cavalry color and the horse's head refer to the division's original cavalry structure. Black, symbolic of iron, alludes to the transition to tanks and armor. The black diagonal stripe represents a sword baldric and is a mark of military honor; it also implies movement "up the field" and thus symbolizes aggressive elan and attack.
