Update 30th May 2003
Fears are growing about the safety of the travel bug known as 'Malcolm the Moose' after friends raised concerns about his whereabouts. He was last seen several weeks ago in the Warwickshire area. Three separate search parties have so far failed to find any sign of him. "It's very worrying," said his mother, Matilda. "All we can do now is wait and pray." Police say that they are treating the disappearance as suspicious, but are keeping an open mind.
Update 7th July 2003
Matilda Moose was decribed by friends and relatives last night as "delighted" at the news that Malcolm had been found safe and well. "He always wanted to travel," she is quoted as saying, "but as a mother one can't help but worry." Malcolm has no nose, a distinguising feature resulting from an accident soon after birth. "The less said about that, the better" said Matilda. She looks forward to receiving more news of him soon.
Update 14th September 2003
Matilda has been very pleased with all the postcards she has received from Malcolm recently. "He's going North," she said, "and that can only be a good thing." She is hoping that he may catch a glimpse of his foster parents Lee and Jackie as they speed past on their way to their honeymoon in a week's time.
Update October 2004
"Well," said Matilda when she heard the news of Malcolm's trip abroad, "I always said that boy would go far." She went on to advise him to wash properly behind his ears and be sure to always be polite. She also said she would love to see photos of him along with any local landmark.
Update October 2005
"He's been gone too long!" cried Matilda. "He hasn't even met the new baby!" So, she's asking Malcolm to head for home, to "The Departure Lounge" near East Midlands Airport, where she will go and pick him up.
Update February 2006
Matilda Moose, mother of Malcolm Moose, is said to be mose peturbed following the recent news that Malcolm is thought to be missing. "Not again!" she cried, "There's only so much a mother (with no nose) can take! COME HOME MALCOLM!"
Update July 2007
"All that gadding about," said Matilda, "and not a thought in the world for his poor, lonely Mother. 17 months ago I asked him to come home, and not a dickybird. COME HOME MALCOLM!"
Update April 2013
We presume that Malcolm is no more. Farewell, Malcolm Moose.
