    We did it (it wasn't that hard) the most famous volcano in the world, Mt Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed Pompeii in AD97. Since then there have been about 40 eruptions, the last being mid 1940s. A stunning crater area. As a volcanologist, I was very excited!
