Brother Bear

Seeing how Bear is in Europe now, he would like to visit Ireland, please help him make his way there. Thank you, and don't forget to take pictures.

This travel bug is dedicated to my brother-in-law, Bear. He died in a car crash Oct 17, 2005. He was 18 years old.
I'll send this Bear out to see all the places he didn't get a chance to.


I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this travel bug and shared his story literally half way around the world. For the last two years, his dad (my father-in-law), has watched his travels and it brings a smile to his face everytime he ends up someplace new. I never realized so far, so fast. I'll start posting some pictures of Bear and writing some stories. Put a watch on this one and share his travels that will continue, long after he is gone.

Bear is my brother-in-law, but in (in-law) part made little difference. Bear had a hard time finding his place in life, and after hard times at home came to live with my wife and I. He was ten years younger than me and still in high school when we took him in. It was strange as we were only married for a few years and now were raising a teenager. But Bear had a kind heart and was a joyous addition to our household despite the typical teenage boy troubles he could get into. He was especially loved by my newborn son. Bear was the best at calming him when he was sad or annoyed.
