We were married in 1998 and planned a honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii immediately following the wedding. Unfortunately, our wedding coincided with a Northwest Airlines strike that was going on. Even though we scheduled a direct flight from Minneapolis, MN to Hawaii - we were forced to take whatever they could make work - which ended up as the following.
Getting to Hawaii (not too bad)-
Drive to Des Moines, IA
Fly to Hawaii
Getting back to Minneapolis (crazy)-
Fly to Los Angeles, CA
Fly to Phoenix, AZ
Fly to Salt Lake City, UT
Fly to Chicago, IL
Fly to Minneapolis, MN
We made it and we had fun, the travel back was a pain in the rear though - both literaly and figuratively. :)
According to some references, 9th anniversary 'items' are Leather and Ceramic. The travel bug is a combination of those two - a leather bag containing a ceramic pendant.
