Current Goal

This Travel Bug’s mission is to see as many happy days, geocaches, countries, geocachers and places as possible.

Please note the days of the week of both your birthday and this find in your log entry.

About This Item

Perpetual Calendar

Though an inherent misnomer, the term perpetual calendar is used to refer to any calendar that is good for a span of many years.

This one is valid for dates from 1956 through to 2067 – effectively a 111 year calendar.

It is a simple brass device comprising a moveable dial (marked with the months of the year at top and days of the month at bottom) and a base scale (showing the years and day of the week), underneath.

This Travel Bug is named after the nursery rhyme:

Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Use

  1. Identify a target date (anything from the 1st of January 1956 to the 31st of December 2067).
  2. Line up the desired month with the desired year (years around the turn of the century are shown in the middle band, 1900s larger bands, 2000s smaller bands).
Note that if it is a leap year, the alternative January/February (as shown on the dial in italics) should be used instead.
  3. The day of the week of your target date will be shown above its respective day of the month.

For example, the 21st of April 1973 was a Saturday.

For the Log

Don’t forget to take note of the day of your find and calculate the day of your birth with the perpetual calendar.
