About This Item

AMTG Poison Sumac Super Cacher GC 1

Large coin with heft. 1.7 inches 4 mm thick copper 75 coins minted.  Lots of mat, translucent and glitter enamel.  The front shows poison sumac leaves and raised script that reads "Poison Sumac" in gold glitter enamel. The reverse medallion shows "?" in red glitter enamel and script that reads "who wants to be a super cacher". OK coin.

Info on the coin:  This geocoin, probably designed by avroair and sold by geoswag in the editions Gold (300 pieces) and Nickel (200 pieces), was first presented on April 21, 2008 in the Geocaching forum and offered for sale. In the first edition, there was also an XLE75 in copper. At the same time, the "Phantom Logger - Super Cacher Geocoin" was launched as a "sister" in a total edition of 675 pieces. Both coins have an identical reverse and differ only in the fronts.

The coin is done in hard enamel design bears the two words POISON SUMAC on the front in yellow glitter, the name for what is probably the most poisonous plant in eastern North America, related to poison ivy. The reverse shows a red glittering question mark in a crystal frame on a yellow background. The following can be read all around: WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERCACHER.

In context, the things on the front page are decidedly *not* things that a SuperCacher wants to deal with or does. In short: "Do not come into contact with POISON SUMAC and only log if you have actually found the cache."

So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve of this, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. CL

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
