My Amazing Mom's Geocoin

I launch this geocoin, Mom’s Family GeoCoin (PC21MZ) in her honor. I ask that you carry it and travel the world to see the high places, the beautiful places, the inspiring places that she could never go; passing it on into the hands of good people to experience the incredible good nature of human kind that she so strongly believes in. 

Send pictures of you and of the view, please. Perhaps even a story to share. I will forward them and your correspondence to her directly. They will be appreciated and received with a prayer for your health and well-being. That's my Mom.

Dear GeoCacher,
This hexagonal coin's travels are dedicated to my mother, Jeanette on the occasion of her 55th wedding anniversary and 77th birthday this year. It’s six sides represent the love of her family which though boundless, is limited by the realities of life at a distance in our ever expanding/ struggling global economy.

My Mom is the daughter of a Great Plains seed corn farmer and the youngest of 11 siblings. She is married to an amazing man and a great father. My Mom raised four kids and has worked for others or for herself until just recently. She has been diagnosed with cancer and seen it cured. 

Today Mom has diabetes, is on dialysis, has lost a foot to the sugar disease and has no personal income, yet she manages to send each of her grand kids $100 for Christmas each year and tries to send cards for occasions. When she was born farmers were  transitioning from steam-driven tractors and horse drawn tools to do the work of the farm and mail took weeks or months to travel to Bahrian, if it could travel at all. Today she uses Slype and email to keep in touch as best she can. She is amazing. 

Her trips further than the five hour drive to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/ St. Paul are few, To my wedding in CA (1980), to visit her grandson at my home in HI (1994), and to my college graduation (GO Hoosiers!) in 2005. Oh yes, and she took a mission trip to Haiti to do work for the impoverished orphans five years ago when many said DO NOT GO.

She is an incredible, strong, German American woman! After this life of supporting other people's lives and suffering at the hands of these diseases the cancer has just reappeared this month.
