Current Goal

This coin is being released as part of the Todie's Wild Ride Bike Awareness Project initiated by Rockin Roddy in response to the death of his good friend Tod Phillips. On August 12, 2008, Tod was riding a motorcycle when he was killed in an accident caused by a left turning vehicle. Tod was one third of Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom. This coin is released in his memory and in memory of all motorcyclists killed on the road. As part of this coins journey, I would like to collect different tips for drivers to be more aware of motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. Feel free to add any tips you wish to the logs to share with others.

About This Item

Look twice - Motorcycle

DO NOT KEEP THIS COIN!
This coin is part of a huge mission to raise awareness of bikes (both motorized and human powered) on the roadways.
All of us who drive cars and trucks today need to ask ourselves; How Can I Become More Aware of Motorcyclists?
There are many, many ways that we can take the responsibilty to become more aware of motorcycles on the road. Some of the best ways are:

Respect the motorcyclist: Remember the motorcycle is a vehicle with all of the privileges of any vehicle on the roadway. Give the motorcyclist a full lane of travel.

Look out: Look for the motorcyclist at intersections, when a motorcyclist may be making a left turn, and on the highway, when a motorcyclist may be changing lanes. Clearly signal your intentions.

Anticipate a motorcyclist's maneuver: Obstructions that you do not notice may be deadly for a motorcyclist. Predict evasive actions.

Allow plenty of space: Don't follow a motorcycle too closely. Allow enough room for the motorcyclist to take evasive actions.

Dropped 10/31/09. This has already been picked up before I could get it logged. Thought this was a good spot when I saw the GI Joe motorcycle toy. Not sure if the toy went with it. It back on its travels again and thats good. Thanks, LPMC

Good news, this TB is still traveling. Came across it in a desert cache in NW Las Vegas. No TB 's were listed in this cache but I noticed in the log the last cacher put it in his written log but forgot to log it in the TB log. Good cause for a cache, This why I ride dirt bikes and ATV's. Too many drivers paying to other distractions instead of the road. Good reminder to me also that I don't always give the road 100% of my attention. Thanks. LPMC
