This little bug is here to rest in Michigan at Kit's Kitchee Komfort Travel Bug B&B and enjoy some northern winter fun. The lake is an all sports lake with year round water activity. Right now in the frozen tundra of winter the lake is enjoyed by fisher people who camp out here on the ice. The travel bugs can enjoy skating, skiing, windsailing, snowmobiling, ice biking, ice baseball … it all happens here.
Summer months see fishermen catching bass, blue gill, walleye, pike and pickerel. While boaters enjoy crusing and watersking. Jet skis, canoes and kyacks share the water while hotair balloons, acrobat planes and lightweight craft share the sky.
Such a beautiful resort on Lake Nepessing home of the Nepessing Indians in the early 1800's until they were moved to a reservation in Grand Rapids. The lake then became a well known area of respite for the Union officers. After the war the land was bought up by investors, one being William Hunt who opened a hotel and shuttled guests on the lakes steamboat to the dance hall on the other side of the lake. This ledgendery hotel, more recently known as Castaway’s, has been around for a few years as a restaurant, but the structure has occupied its spot on Lake Nepessing since the early 1800's.
Legend has it that the location is haunted, with employees and patrons claiming to have seen a man walk off the dock into the lake or a woman leaning over the platform of the lighthouse. Others report hearing voices yell at them when walking to the back bathroom and feeling cold hands wrap around their neck near the staircase to the roof.
This TB will make new friends and enjoy lake living until she is found by another wandering adventurer.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with me. If TB isn’t picked up by another traveler CO will take it for adventures this Winter.
