Please move this coin in any direction you want as long as it stays in North America. This geocoin may very well be the most important geocoin you will ever hold in your hand. The reason I say that is because this geocoin is on a journey to remind people to be aware of bikers that share the road with us and to give them a little extra room on the road. Sadly, the man pictured on this geocoin (Tod) is no longer alive. On August 12th, 2008 there was an accident that involved a truck and Tod who was riding his motorcycle. Sadly Tod died as a result of that accident. Now his family and friends are left behind to try and understand why a careless lane change by a motorist took somebody they loved very much from them. Remember it's not only bikers on motorcycles that we need to watch out for. we also need to watch out for bikers on pedal bikes!
This coin was designed and distributed by Tod's best friend as a way to raise awareness of the need for more motorcycle awareness and safety programs. Please remember that the bikers on the road don’t have nearly as much protection as those of us in cars so please keep a vigilant eye out for them and give them a little extra room. By doing those 2 simple things you help a keep a similar tragedy from happening to another family. If you’re a biker please wear an approved helmet to stay safe so your family and friends won’t be forced to learn to live without you.
