To be discovered at events, and for the proxy to travel far and wide spreading GS cheer and goodwill.
March 12, 2012 marks 100 years of Girl Scouting in the United States. Juliette Gordon-Low brought GS from England to Savannah, Georgia in 1912 for the purpose of empowering and enriching girls. "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!" Now 3.7 million members strong, GSUSA is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls- teaching them to have courage, confidence, and character in order to make the world a better place.
This coin includes the original GS law. Over the years the promise and law have been updated to keep up with the times. Here is the current version.
The Promise:
On my honor
I will try to serve God and my country
and to help people at all times and to
live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Law:
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
The obverse of the coin shows the GS trefoil, it's three leaves representing the three parts of the Promise. The eagle symbolizes strength and victory; the shield signifies self-reliance. Clutching the olive branch for peace and arrows for might, the eagle faces the position of honor, looking toward the symbol of peace. The eagle and shield signify that Girl Scouts stand ready to serve their country.

Stopped by the cache on our Disney cruise. It's still too cold to do much caching in our home area, so we left the TB for others.
