Current Goal

This coin has a funny story.  It was minted for the 1st ever Earthcaching Event which was held in Maine.  A cacher from NH - bound2 - and I both bought one of these coins.  Ironically, much by mistake we discovered bound2's coin which they activated and mine had identical tracking numbers.  Bound2 released their coin and it disappeared.  "It's goal was - To visit with cachers from around the world and hopefully see some earthcaches along the way. Pictures encouraged!   Dropped in a cache in NH that has an earthcache nearby."   The identical numbers was discovered when I went to activate mine.

Time passed and everything to get it resolved never happened.  So six years later, bound 2 let me adopt the coin he released - thank you bound2!  So, I am going to take my Brand new coin and release it on a trip to Italy.  We will see if this on travels or goes missing..............only time will tell!

Please keep it traveling if you can.  Hang onto it for a while if you wish but please keep dipping it into caches you visit!  I would like to see this coin well traveled!

    In 2022 this coin went missing from a cache in Quebec. The only left was the travel bag and printed explanation about the coin. What a shame someone had to take it and not log it properly.

    I used to love coins and purchased many. Often released them as well. I don't do it anymore.

    Anyway, maybe someday, someone will find this coin and try to log it again. Hope I live long enough to perhaps see it happen.

    On Nov 7/22, at GC4RTQ8 in Niagara Falls, Ontario I picked up the explanatory note that has previously journeyed with the coin — alas, no coin. A double check of the cache the next day didn’t help. I reached out to Bound2 mentioned in the note, who put me in touch with Hollara the coin custodian. Discovery and posting with Hollara’s consent, but it’s looking like the end of the line for the coin…

    I appreciated the good humour and guidance of my fellow geocachers mentioned above in navigating this situation!
