The mission of this trackable is to raise awareness of XF500 and Justin's journey. Please help clean up the coastlines/waterways, and post your pictures to this page!
This trackable is in honor of Justin Riney his Mother Ocean organization (www.motherocean.org), with special focus during his Expedition Florida 500 (XF500) journey during the 2013 year.
XF500 is a year long journey to raise awareness on the important of our ecosystems and the need to protect and preserve the coastline and waterways. On January 1, 2013 Justin started off from Pensacola, FL on a paddleboard and approximately 150 lbs of equipment. During the first 6 months of the journey, Justin paddled the coastline of Florida from Pensacola down the west coast, wrapping around the Keys, and then head north until he reaches Jacksonville on July 4th. After which, he will then head inland and paddle the inland waterways the last 6 months of the year.
During this entire journey, Justin will work with locals in various communities hosting presentation events as well as coastal/waterway cleanups. All while raising awareness on what everyone can do to help preserve and protect the beauty around us. Each Saturday, Mother Ocean "host" Ocean Hour, an hour long clean up from 9:00am - 10:00am on Saturdays. If we all just help out for one hour a week, we can make a huge difference!
You can read more about Mother Ocean, Ocean Hour, and Expedition Florida 500 at www.motherocean.org or "like" the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/XF500. Hopefully, if you are in Florida during the 2013 year you can look up the events XF500 will be having throughout the rest of the year, stop by to meet Justin and help out! I hope to see you there - look me up at each and every event along the way!
As Geocachers, we host CITOs at various times of the year. I chose the CITO TB, as it ties in well with part of the message XF500 is sending.
