Originally built in the fall of 1812 by Kentucky troops under the command of Lt. Col. Robert Pogue, the fort was enlarged to almost double the original size during the spring of 1813 by Ohio militia soldiers under the command of Capt. Daniel Hosbrook. A fifth blockhouse was added during the second phase of construction as well as several cabins and storage buildings. The walls stood 11 feet above the ground. Located on the banks of the Auglaize River, Fort Amanda served as a major supply depot during the war.

I took some photos but have to scan them in... I'll post them later.

    Thanks

If I have screwed up the entries please contact me and I will try and fix it...I had written that I would drop the bug in the correct cache, and I didn't notice that fndrs kprs had already logged the bug. I am usually not such a screw up, sorry!

Grab It (Not from a Cache) 12/29/2003 fndrs-kprs grabbed it   Visit Log

I think a little travel history is missing for this bug! I found it in "Recycle Cache 1 (Riley Creek Church)" cache. I currently have it and will move it along soon.

Perhaps the rest of the history will be updated as everyone has a chance to log in.

Perhaps it will sort itself out.

    Cool travel bug... Very unique!

    Thank for the find.

Grabbed it back...I must have left him in a different cache! Please whoever finds him let me know and I will log him in that cache! I am really sorry about that...we did so many caches that day, and we forgot to write down what cache we left him in...

I will get this straighteded out, I promise!!
