A lovely Poppy Geocoin to commemorate the fallen. This is one is to remember Moo's dad who was in the 2nd South Staffordshire Regiment 1st Airborne Division. As an 18 year old he was dropped into Arnhem which was their final operation. Dad was very lucky to live to the ripe old age of 87 as many, many, many of his comrades didn't make it. He never really talked about the war.
Age does not weary them,
Nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
We had a smaller Poppy geocoin before which was taken to Afghanistan by our friend TriggerWooton. He set the coin free on Rememberance Sunday 2010 in a cache in Afghanistan. The cache was hidden in an old military vehicle. Alas the vehicle was towed away and the cache was never seen again. It is quite poignant that the Poppy coin went MIA there.
Hopefully this coin will fare better.
