This travel bug has the modest goal to circulate more than five years and to be moved by at least 25 cachers. As of 31-Jul-19 it had survived for 5.2 years, but it had been moved by only 16 cachers. How far can it get? Keep it moving!
Please drop it in rural OR Premium Member Only caches. Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event. Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items. Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish. No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

I am always watching for something I can convert into a travel bug. This item was purchased in April 2014 in a gift shop in Orvieto, one of the hill towns in central Italy. Pinocchio is an Italian folk tale that was made famous in the US by Walt Disney and others. The story is about a puppet that wanted to be a real boy and whose nose would get longer when he told a lie.
Orvieto was a center of the Etruscan Civilization for almost a thousand years before the Romans. When Rome began to expand, this city, perched on a stoney plateau (see photo), held off Julius Ceasar and the Roman army for two and a half years. When the city was eventually overrun, survivors were relocated elsewhere and evidence of the Etruscans destroyed.
