This is one of a series of heart-shaped items obtained from different places and converted into travel bugs. They are named either for the places of their origin or for Texas Panhandle-South Plains towns with interesting names or histories.
This piece was purchased in April, 2014 in a trinket shop in Florence, Italy. The fleur-de-lis on the visible side of the heart is the symbol of Florence. On the other side (hard to see) is a cheesy representation of the duomo (the main cathedral). It is famous for its huge dome, the bell tower, and baptistry. Florence is my favorite city in Italy. There are several great art museums and beautiful architecture is everywhere you look. If you stay in the old town you can walk to every bit of it. And, whereever you are, you are only minutes from good food and a the best gelato in Italy.
