about the geocoin
a huge 2.5" coin with more than 400 fields. this is the new “
sahasrara” geocoin ... in a way.
The front shows a geometric flower (made of circles), the back is kind of a look through a triangular kaleidoscope focussed on three interwoven triangles (an ancient symbol). including all mirrored images, there are 24 such 3-fold triangles. The name “kaleidoscope” was suggested in a forum when only the flower side was ready. so the back was created after the naming. The word “kaleidoscope“ derives from the greek kalos = “beautiful” plus eidos = “shape” plus skopeo = “to look at, to examine”: “observer of beautiful forms.” There are more than 400 color-filled fields on this coin which made the manufacturing quite complicated and costly – more than one manufacturing companies even refused the job for that reason. Front and back are covered with an epoxy layer (except for antique silver edition).
