I would like to visit the different Savanna regions all over our beautiful planet, but while I'm at it, I would also like to ride the rollercoasters of the world! We don't have those really big coasters in South Africa so please take me with you if you are heading towards a theme park & post LOTS of pics of our rides together.
Please don't keep me - I want to travel all over the world & see as many places as possible
This little guy comes from Johannesburg in South Africa, hence the name Savanna.
A Savanna is a grassland ecosystem characterised by the trees being sufficiently widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of grasses. This environment is intermediate between a grassland & a forest or desert. Savannas have an extended dry season and a rainy season.
The Savannas of South Africa cover more than a third of the country, curling up around from the arid Kalahari, fattening through Limpopo and extending down through KwaZulu-Natal to the Eastern Cape. When conservation started in South Africa, it was this ecosystem that was first protected in what became the Kruger National Park over 100 years ago. This is where you'll typically see the Big Five plus scores of other species of game, birds, reptiles and insects, as well as hundreds of species of plants and trees. http://www.southafrica.net/za/en/articles/entry/article-southafrica.net-south-african-savannas
