Love Bug-Floydada Blue Silver Glass

This travel bug has the modest goal to circulate more than five years and to be moved by at least 25 cachers.  As of 7-Sep-19 it had survived for 4.4 years and had been moved by only 8 cachers.

Please drop it in rural OR Premium Member Only caches.  Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish.  No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

This is one of a series of heart-shaped items obtained from different places and converted into travel bugs. They are named either for the places of their origin or for Texas Panhandle-South Plains towns with interesting names or histories.

Floydada is the county seat of Floyd County.  It was originally named Floyd City and was established on 640 acres of land donated by James B. and Caroline Price of Jefferson City, Missouri.  Floydada won the county seat over Della Plain.  When a post office came to town, the name was changed to Floydada. Some claim the new name was meant to be Floydalia and was garbled in transmission to Washington; others say it was a combination of the county name and that of donor James Price's mother, Ada; still another version is that it was named for Caroline Price's parents, Floyd and Ada. Floydada became an important railroad junction in 1928 when the Quanah, Acme and Pacific Railway finally arrived.  The area has a rich agricultural history, chiefly cotton, but the city also annually hosts a large pumpkin festival.  More recently, the county has embraced wind energy.
