This bug wants to travel far and wide spreading the word about this iconic piece of American highway history and our love for travel and sightseeing.
This Travel Bug is my 3rd to commemorate one of the original US highways. Route 66 was formally established on 11 November, 1926 and the highway covered over 2400 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. The iconic route traveled through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California passing through countless small towns and larger cities along the way. Originally gravel Route 66 became the first completely paved transcontinental highway in America in 1938 allowing countless truckers and vacationers a largely flat route across country. Faded and in some cases restored pieces of Americana can still be seen today as you travel near or on rerouted stretches of this original American highway.
