Travel-Waterton Lakes NP TB2

This trackable has the goal to circulate more than five years and to be moved by at least 25 cachers. That is a target rate of five drops per year for five years, or a drop every 73 days.   As of 7-Sep-21 it had survived for 5.2 years but it had been moved by only 20 cachers, for an average release every 95 days. Keep it moving!

No permission is needed to leave the U.S. While in the U.S., please drop it in a Premium Member only OR a rural cache near a busy trail or road. Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event where there is no security. Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items. Otherwise, take the trackable anywhere you wish.

In the fall of 2015 my wife and I made a trip from Texas up through Wyoming, Montana, Alberta and British Columbia.  I am always on the lookout for something to convert into a travel bug.  This is one such item, purchased at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton (see photo upload).

Waterton Lakes National Park is located in the southwest corner of Alberta, Canada, and borders Glacier National Park in Montana, United States.  Waterton was Canada's fourth national park, formed in 1895 and named after Waterton Lake, in turn after the Victorian naturalist and conservationist Charles Waterton.  The park contains 195 sq mi of rugged mountains and wilderness.

Operated by Parks Canada, Waterton is open all year, but the main tourist season is during July and August. The only commercial facilities available within the park are located at the Waterton Park townsite.  The park ranges in elevation from 4,232 ft at the townsite to 9,547 ft at Mount Blakiston.  It offers many scenic trails, including Crypt Lake trail.
