This golden carousel TB is very pretty, but it is a travel bug and as such needs to be kept on the move please.
To travel AROUND and AROUND many caches everywhere is the ultimate goal.
I love carousels and the film, so maybe you can have fun whilst remembering happy times.
Maybe you could add a photo along the adventure and we can all follow the dream, we all have to dream....
NO EVENTS please, far too many bugs have gone to meets and then have vanished without trace, thanks.
HISTORY.....About 300 years ago the French build a device to train young noblemen in the art of ring-spearing. His device consisted of carved horses and chariots suspended by chains from arms radiating from a centerpole. This was probably the beginning of the carousel as we have come to know it.
By the late 1700's, there were numerous carousels built solely for amusement scattered throughout Europe. They were small and light.. . their size and weight limited by what could readily be move by man, mule, or horsepower. These limitations were removed with the invention of the steam engine.
Gustav Dentzel was the man who pioneered the modern carousel in America ... in the 1860's. Many talented men followed his lead and their creations became the centerpiece of hundreds of amusement parks that sprung up in the cities and resorts of the United States.
Then there is of course the wonderful film........
Carousel is a 1956 film adaptation of the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical of the same name which, in turn, was based on Ferenc Molnár's non-musical play Liliom. The 1956 Carousel film stars Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones, and was directed by Henry King. Like the original stage production, the film contains what many critics consider some of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most beautiful songs, as well as what may be, along with the plots, the most serious storyline found in their musicals.
This Tb is a golden carousel attached to a bright blue dog tag and small keyring, please kook after it and I hope you have many happy times whilst helping with the simple mission.
