North Pole Expedition / Výprava na severní pól

Cimrman´s goal was to invent a device that would not show the inventor´s choice of the cardinal point, but rather a device that makes navigating to the user-selected destination (Not only because of this Jara Cimrman is considered by right the inventor of geocaching). Firstly Jara Cimrman experimented with the compass, to which he added continuously sliding magnet (this invention apparently was not preserved). The magnetic needle was therefore possible to swing freely in the desired direction. The first field tests, which Sváťa Tadpole conducted, however, revealed that although the compass needle does not point to the north all the time, but also that for the orientation in the terrain it is not very helpful. The second and much more successful Cimrman´s achievement is the compass designed for the journey from the North Pole which Cimrman himself tested during his Arctic expedition. The equipment worked flawlessly and thanks to it the whole expedition successfully returned home.

Cimrmanovým cílem bylo zařízení, které neukazuje autorem zvolenou světovou stranu, ale naopak zařízení, které provede navigaci k uživatelem zvolenému cíli, (nejen proto je JC právem považován za vynálezce geocachingu). Neprve Jára Cirman experimentoval s kompasem, ke kterému přidal plynule posuvný magnet (tento vynález se patrně nedochoval). Magnetickou střelku bylo tedy možno libovolně vychylovat požadovaným směrem. První testy v terénu, které Sváťa Pulec prováděl, však odhalily, že ručička kompasu sice neukazuje stále na sever, ale také to, že s orientací v terénu příliš nepomůže. Druhý a o mnoho úspěšnější cimrmanův počin je kompas vyvinutý pro cestu ze severního pólu, který i sám Cimrman vyzkoušel při své arktické expedici. Zařízení fungovalo bezchybně a i díky jemu se celá expedice úspěšně vrátila domů.
